His Tomb and His Treasures

The exhibition is the first of its kind in South Africa, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the treasures of the tomb at their moment of discovery. Seen by over five million people worldwide, the exhibition is a faithful reconstruction of Tutankhamun’s tomb, matching the sheer scale of grandeur. Visitors can be treated to a unique chance to delve right into the cultural history of ancient Egypt.

The Forgotten Pharaoh

As one of the most enigmatic figures in Egyptian history, Tutankhamun is known across the world for his grand but tragic life. Descended from the 18th Dynasty and son of the god-king Akhenaten, the young pharaoh took on the title at the age of just eight. Historians remain baffled about the mysterious circumstances in which he died at about the age of eighteen. After being erased from all monuments and leaving no record of his name he lay in the Valley of Kings undiscovered for almost 3,500 years.

Marvel at the grandeur

There are over 1,000 reconstructed burial treasures within the exhibition. Due to the extremely fragile and valuable nature of the original artefacts they cannot be transported but experts have created perfect replicas and brought them together under Silverstar’s roof. Egyptian craftsmen have produced the exquisite treasures under scientific supervision for people everywhere to marvel at.

Walk through Ancient Egypt

Designed to guide visitors through the history of the young pharaoh, the exhibition uses state-of-the-art technology and video material to provide a vivid look into the life and culture of the Ancient Egyptians. With so much to learn about the rich history, there is the chance to discover historical facts that reveal more about the religion, deities, dynasties, and hieroglyphics of the empire on the Nile.
